Backup

Even if you found a copy, it might not work any longer under newer versions of Mac OS X. Compared to the PC Edition, PCPE for the Macintosh was very limited. It couldn't do many of the things that the PC/Windows edition could. Mac OS X contains built in, basic support for an APC UPS and if it's not enough, apcupsd is far more capable. Can some one please enlighten me on what model of UPS Apple was engineering for when they came up with the shutdown -h -u option. I have not found an APC model that can achieve a power cut to the mini within 5 minutes using network shutdown. Does anyone actually have the auto-restart working from a UPS battery back up.

What model UPS are you using? How is it connected to the Mac mini? Have you tried watching the Console for messaging? Are you pulling the plug from the wall on the APC? Is that how you are performing the test?
I don't believe the shutdown command gets issued immediately by a UPS upon power loss. If the UPS predicts it can power it's load for, say, 60 minutes, then it will allow most of that runtime before going through the shutdown sequence. At least that's how I understand things.
